Through out this fantastic tour we will be joined by our own personal guide who will take us on a fascinating journey to uncover the history of James Herriot and the ever popular TV series of “All Creatures Great & Small”. With a visit to “The world of James Herriot” museum and the original and new filming locations of “All creatures Great & Small” down to a visiting Wensleydale Creamery and a chance to indulge in the iconic Ripley Ice Cream as well as a visit to the ancient city of York you will certainly come back with some amazing memories to cherish.

Schedule

Day 1: Depart our local area and make our way to The Best Western Burn Hall Hotel stopping enroute for refreshment and comfort stops.

Day 2: After breakfast we depart our hotel and take the scenic route to Thirsk to visit “The World of James Herriot” museum where we will be able to walk through his fully restored 1940’s home and surgery, see the car he drove, step into the TV set plus so much more. After our visit to the museum we depart Thirsk taking the scenic route through Bedale and Leyburn before arriving in Hawes. Here we will make a visit to Wensleydale Creamery – home to the iconic creamy, crumbly classic Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese. After leaving Hawes we continue our journey through Bainbridge towards Askrigg – the main filming location used in the current series of “All creatures Great and Small”. From Askrigg we continue through Middleham onto the picturesque village of East Witton before our short stop in the picturesque market town of Masham before arriving back at our hotel in time for our evening meal.

Day 3: After breakfast we depart the hotel and take the scenic route towards the city of Ripon, a cathedral city steeped in history and home to magnificent historical buildings and long observed traditions. Here we will have ample time to explore before continuing our journey through Nidderdale and Pately Bridge before arriving in Grassington, a small picturesque town used as the filming location for the current TV series of “All Creatures Great & Small”. After our free time in Grassington we make our way to Ripley where we will have free time to indulge in the iconic Ripley Ice Cream before returning back to our hotel in time for our evening meal.

Day 4: After breakfast we make our way to the Ancient city of York. Here we will have plenty of free time to explore the many attractions York has to offer including York Minster, The Shambles – one of UK’s most historic streets or visit the famous National Railway uncovering 300 years of railway history. The choice is endless. After exploring this beautiful city we head back to our hotel in time for our evening meal.

Day 5: After a not so early breakfast we say farewell to our hotel with some amazing memories from all our exploring to make our way back home stopping enroute for comfort and refreshment stops.
