Day 4: Breisach
Journey by coach from the Rhine into the Black Forest, where in hillside villages the 17th-century art of cuckoo clockmaking still thrives, each clock hand-carved and proudly certified. Enjoy a scenic mountain drive through pine-covered valleys, past waterfalls and home to the region’s sweetest legend, the Black Forest Cake or enjoy time walking around Breisach.
Day 5: Mannheim
The “City of Inventions” where innovation and history intertwine. The birthplace of the bicycle, the automobile, and the tractor, this city has shaped modern mobility. Its distinctive grid-style layout, earning it the nickname “City of Squares,” sets it apart from any other German city. Mannheim Palace is a grand reminder of the city’s royal past, the second-largest Baroque palace in Europe rivalled only by Versailles.
Day 5: Mainz
Day 6: Mainz
In Mainz, wine is a way of life, a tradition flowing through more than 2,000 years of history. The Romans first planted vines along the Rhine’s gentle slopes. Today, Mainz stands among the Great Wine Capitals of the World, alongside Bordeaux and Napa Valley. Most vineyards are family-owned, cultivating grapes for white wines in fertile soils, many now embracing organic farming.
Day 7: Speyer
One of Germany’s oldest towns, Speyer is crowned by its majestic cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest Romanesque church in the world. The town also holds a remarkable treasure of the world’s oldest unopened bottle of wine, preserved since the days of the Roman Empire.
Day 8: Strasbourg
